The XISTA Science Park is located in the Maria Gugging district of Klosterneuburg and, together with the neighbouring campus of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), forms a major hub for technology and innovation. The buildings of the Science Park are arranged along the hillside, following the natural contour lines. Carefully integrated into the terrain, the building volumes blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. At the same time, the circulation routes are aligned with the adjacent ISTA campus, creating a clear spatial connection and intuitive orientation throughout the site.

The XISTA Science Park provides an ideal environment for companies, particularly scientific start-ups and technology-driven businesses that emerge from ISTA’s research activities or benefit from its close proximity. While ISTA has been conducting world-class basic research in the natural sciences, mathematics and computer science since 2009, the XISTA Science Park provides the space to translate these research findings into commercial applications. Here, spin-off companies transform scientific discoveries into market-ready innovations and support their development through to commercial maturity.

With the completion of Buildings 1 and 2, the foundation for the development of the site was established. Building 4, completed in 2026, complements the campus as its third building and consistently advances the innovation hub envisioned in the master plan.

The laboratory and office spaces are arranged across four storeys and were specifically designed to meet the requirements of start-ups and technology-oriented research companies. Their flexible architectural concept allows the spaces to be adapted to a wide range of future uses.

Architecture and Landscape Design

Key architectural features of the project include a high-quality ceramic façade, whose graduated colour scheme continues the design language of the neighbouring buildings, as well as a rooftop photovoltaic system with maintenance-friendly access.

The building is complemented by the landscape design developed by F+P ARCHITEKTEN. Between Buildings 1 and 4, a generously landscaped garden has been created as a meeting and communication space featuring a basketball court and designer lounge furniture. This outdoor area encourages interaction, collaboration and networking among the users while reinforcing the campus character of the XISTA Science Park.
