Groundbreaking in Apollogasse

By the end of 2025, a total of 46 new municipal flats will be built on the site of the former Sophienspital. This construction project – part of Wiener Wohnen’s sustainable district of subsidised and affordable housing – was launched with a groundbreaking ceremony last Monday.

The existing building will be renovated and expanded with a two-storey extension. The ground floor will accommodate a modern medical practice. On the lowest level, the new building will house a multi-purpose sports hall and on the top level a roof terrace for community use.

At the centre of the project is the inner courtyard, where outdated extensions will be removed to make way for a new five-storey residential extension. Despite the courtyard location, all flats will offer attractive views.
