The former administration building of the Sophienspital hospital is to be converted into a residential development with additional community facilities.
The existing building will be refurbished and converted to create modern apartments including a new two-storey roof extension and, at ground floor, a new Medical practice. In the central courtyard modern extensions will be demolished and a new five-storey extension for residential apartments will be built, offering a new Multi-purpose sports hall at the lowest level and a communal roof terrace above.
By limiting the new building to five storeys, the horizontal line of the existing building cornice is maintained and the urban character is retained.
Despite the courtyard location, all flats have attractive views of various green spaces: Into the Sophienpark, onto the courtyard access balconies, and across the southern boundary into the park of the Lazaristenkirche.
