COMPLETION
Opening of the Klinik Favoriten Central Laboratory
Forward-looking laboratory diagnostics for healthcare in Vienna
On 23 February 2026, the new Central Laboratory at Klinik Favoriten was officially opened. In the presence of the Executive Board of the Vienna Health Association (Wiener Gesundheitsverbund – WIGEV) and City Councillor Peter Hacker, the Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics was formally put into operation.
With the completion of the new building, a major component of the modernization of the Klinik Favoriten campus has been realized. As part of the West laboratory cluster, the Central Laboratory sustainably strengthens the regional provision of highly specialized laboratory diagnostics and provides a future-oriented infrastructure capable of processing several million analyses per year.
F+P played a leading role in the project, with planning carried out by AHA – Austrian Healthcare Architects (SWAP Architektur and AC Architects Collective). The focus was on combining technical excellence with a clearly structured and functionally well-conceived spatial organization. At the heart of the facility is the automated “core laboratory,” complemented by optimally arranged laboratory areas and short, efficient circulation routes.
In addition to the highest technical precision, sustainable construction and high-quality working conditions were central considerations: a compact building volume, a high-performance ventilated timber façade, and a photovoltaic system on the roof underline the project’s ecological ambition. Loggias and indoor as well as outdoor staff areas further contribute to the well-being of employees.
With the successful realization of the Central Laboratory, another milestone has been achieved in the ongoing development of the Klinik Favoriten campus.
We look forward to continuing this path through future hospital projects.
