PROJECT

Completion of the Apollogasse 19 residential building

Apr 2026

With the official handover of the residential building at Apollogasse 19, another key component of the Sophie 7 residential quarter has been successfully completed. On the site of the former Sophienspital, subsidised and affordable housing has been created within Vienna’s Gürtel area.

The handover was carried out by the City of Vienna – Wiener Wohnen in the presence of numerous representatives from politics and the housing sector.
F+P ARCHITEKTEN Managing Director Martin Schrehof and Project Manager Tobias Rath were also on site to mark the completion of the project.

The project combines existing structures and new construction into a forward-looking whole: the historic administrative building of the former Sophienspital was comprehensively refurbished and complemented by a new building and a two-storey rooftop extension. In total, 46 high-quality yet affordable apartments for around 120 residents were realised.

The residential offering is further enhanced by a wide range of shared and infrastructure facilities, including landscaped open spaces, a communal rooftop garden, sports and multi-purpose areas, as well as a medical practice on the ground floor.

The project stands as a model for sustainable and socially oriented urban development. Affordability, flexible layouts, barrier-free access and a climate-friendly energy supply based on photovoltaic systems and district heating are among its key qualities.

For F+P ARCHITEKTEN, the handover marks the successful completion of an intensive planning and construction process.
