“Stadterneuerungspreis” Award GOLD for BG/BRG Zirkusgasse

We are very pleased to have received 1st place in the category “Outstanding Achievement” for our general refurbishment and extension project at BG/BRG Zirkusgasse in Vienna’s 2nd district.

Together with the architects from SHIBUKAWA EDER ARCHITECTS ZT GmbH, our client BIG Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft m.b.H., and the construction company Granit Gesellschaft m.b.H., we were honored to accept the GOLD Quality Brick Award.

The listed school building on Zirkusgasse, dating back to the 1890s, was carefully revitalized – with special attention given to light, spatial quality, energy efficiency, and the demands of a modern school day.

Highlights of the BG/BRG Zirkusgasse project:

• A new, light-filled atrium with balconies and recreational areas

• An open assembly hall with tiered seating to encourage social interaction

• An underground gymnasium

• The respectful preservation of the historic building fabric

The “Stadterneuerungspreis” (Vienna Urban Renewal Award) not only recognizes the high-quality renovation in harmony with the historic structure, but also the successful collaboration between two architectural firms and numerous dedicated project partners.
